Please don’t choose a size based on:

  • School shoe or trainer size
  • Automatically going down one size from the dancer’s usual shoe size
  • The size of previous pumps, as they may have stretched and different styles fit differently
  • Drawing around the feet and measuring the footprint

These methods can lead to the wrong size.

Watch our 2 minute video on how to measure the dancers feet, or follow the steps below, so you order the right size first time.

How to Measure

  1. Place a sheet of A4 paper against a wall, with one edge touching the wall.

  2. Wearing their usual dance socks, place the dancer’s foot on the paper with the heel against the wall. Check that the paper hasn’t moved.

  3. Relax the foot and toes, then mark the longest point of the foot. You may need someone to help.

  4. Measure in a straight line from the wall edge of the paper to the mark.

Measure both feet. Half sizes differ by only a few millimeters, so measure as accurately as possible.

It is normal for these measurements to differ, particularly in growing children. Use the smaller measurement when ordering pumps for a close fit and the best arch profile.
